From filmmaker Kiki Ong:
This film is a collective undertaking with the goal of building community. While I believe that everyone can benefit from listening to stories unlike their own, my primary motivation for sharing BIPOC stories is for BIPOC folks. The title of our film, As We Have Always Done, is an ode to the resilience, strength, and tenacity shown by BIPOC in everyday life. Our film aims to disrupt prevailing ideas of what it means to be a cyclist and look like one in cycling media. By establishing a baseline understanding of how people’s many different experiences and cultures influence how they relate to the outdoors and outdoor recreation, we focus on celebrating the various ways in which people can connect with the land instead of determining for them how they should connect with the land.
