Would you escape from a prison to climb a mountain? It's probably the last thing you would think about. Yet there are those who have been struck by an image that appeared in the clouds, almost in the middle of the last century, and in the middle of the Second World War. At 5,199m, Mount Kenya is second only to Kilimanjaro among the African mountains. It lies just south of the equator, about 150km north-northeast of the capital Nairobi, and gave Kenya its name.
