Yet with a deeply influential role in European climbing, routes that range in length to 19 pitches, and what has been called the hardest big wall free route in the world, the stunning lines of this undercrowded region make it ripe for free climbing discovery. This past fall, Eddie Bauer climbers Katie Lambert and Caroline George landed in the Spanish national park and joined up to climb the Murciana 78 (7c+) route on the same imposing Naranjo de Bulnes West Face that Caroline's mother Martine was the first woman to climb in 1971 via the Rabadá-Navarro (6c+) route.
