Nepal is a country located between India and Tibet, famous for its temples and the Himalayan mountains, among which is Everest. Kathmandu, the capital, has a labyrinthine old quarter full of Hindu and Buddhist shrines. Around the Kathmandu Valley are Swayambhunath, a Buddhist temple that houses monkeys; Boudhanath, a huge Buddhist stupa; Hindu temples and cremation areas at Pashupatinath; and the medieval city of Bhaktapur.
