Location: Shasta-Trinity National Forest, California. Pacific Crest Trail 41.1284 -122.0267

After talking to this deer for a minute, I started hiking and later noticed it was running down the trail after me. Then it just kept following me. It's possible she was waiting for me to take a bathroom break so she could drink it for the salt. I don't really know what was going on, but it was one of the most amusing animal encounters I've had in the wild.
