You could take the trail back down but why would you when you could ride a small river of snow 1000's of feet to the trail. You'r knees will thank you and so will your body assuming you don't gain so much momentum you can't stop before flying off a cliff. Also, sometimes the snow doesn't carry you back to the trail. This means a cost benefit analysis must be done on the amount of bushwhacking compared to the amount of sliding.
