r
Christoph Hainz is one of the best all-round mountaineers in the world, and is a guiding spirit in the international SALEWA alpineXtrem team. His list of achievements in the mountains is unique, having climbed over 2,000 routes (of which 20 were solo ascents of difficulty grade VI to VIII). Among these routes are numerous difficult first ascents on rock and ice. The climber caused a media sensation with his nine-hour solo ascent of 'Via Franco-Argentina' (VIII/A2, Cerro Fitz Roy, Patagonia), as well as with his legendary 4 hour 30 minute solo tour of the Eiger north face in 2003. In 2010 his trilogy on the three peaks (Tre Cime) - 'Das Phantom der Zinne' (IX+), 'Alpenliebe' (IX) and 'Ötzi trifft Yeti' (VIII+) - had another extreme route added to it: 'Pressknödl' (400m, 12 SL, 7c). This route proceeds left of the Scolatoli edge across the north wall of the western peak.
