Začnemo v Giessenbachu proti Scharnitzu, nato čudovito skozi Karwendeltäler najprej zmerno po gozdni poti skozi gozdove in čez alpske livade. Zadnjih približno 5 km/460 hm postane zahtevno in strmo. Odhodek do Hochalmsattla se izplača z lepim okroglim razgledom sredi naravnega parka Karwendel, obdanim z vrhovi in stenami.
