The Meraner Weg at the Ortler (3905 m.) in South Tyrol is one of the most beautiful ridges of this mountain. The first part is a long rock crest, mix of scrambling and technical climbing of grade I and II. Then the last part climb the right (NW) section of the upper glacier to connect at the end with the regular route. We have decided to divide the imponent vertical step (2350 m.) in two days. The first day we have climbed until the altitude of 3200 m at the end of the rock section of the crest, and the second day directly to the top of the Ortler on the upper glacier. Two days of great climbing in 'old Style'!
