Opis:
Geophyte is the technical term for plants that retreat completely below ground in the most inhospitable part of the year – the summer in Mediterranean areas. We commonly refer to them as “bulbs” but strictly they include bulbs, corms and tubers as their underground storage organs. In UK gardens we tend to focus on spring bulbs, but there are many that flower in the autumn before the harsh winter weather. This short 8-minute talk illustrates the beauty of autumn flowering geophytes with a visit to Delphi and Mount Parnassos in Greece.
