I found a Black Widow Spider under a dog bowl just outside my back door and took the opportunity to film this episode on the most venomous spider in North America. I present five important facts about the Black Widow spider. The black widow spider bite is very dangerous. I explain how to identify it and discuss the various species in North America and how widow spiders are found on every continent in the world. I explain why black widow spiders are not likely to bite but what situations will cause them to bite. A black widow spider will bite if you press a body part against it in defense. A lot of people ask is a black widow spider poisonous but the correct term is venomous. Many people are concerned about spider bites. I explain what to do if you are bitten by a black widow. I discuss how they get their name and where you are likely to find them. I explain that male black widows do not bite and discuss mating behaviors and misconceptions. I likely had a Southern Black Widow in my possession.
