Opis:
If you want to find an ant lion and see one yourself, it is not hard to do! I will show you how to identify, find, and capture an Ant Lion to look at up close! I go on site to a picnic shelter in a local park and show you what to look for. I show you how to recognize pit traps and two techniques to locate the individual. Ant lions also known as Doodle Bugs are larva of an insect species in the order: neuroptera and family:Myrmeleontidae. Ant Lions are fierce ambush predators feeding on any small arthropod or insect that falls into its pit trap. Fine particles of dirt slip away as an insect falls into pit. The ant lion lies in the center and grabs the prey with his big jaws pulling it down into the soil as shown in this video! Traps are dug by the ant lion by flipping dry dirt in the air. Ant lions can be found in dry dirt under the eaves of buildings, porches, and shelters. Look for the characteristic cone-shaped pit or depression in dry soil. You can scoop the ant lion out with a spoon or gently blowing dirt away until it is revealed. Ant lions are also called doodle bugs because of the twisting trails they leave in dry dirt as they relocate. Their trails look like Doodles!
