This Long Rough Class 4 Hike & Rock Climbing Adventure takes us up, down & across Isolated Backcountry Desert Terrain in the Amazing San Rafael Swell, Utah. Most of this area is in the Mexican Mountain Wilderness Area, as designated by Congress in 2019. Complicated by Snowy & Icy Mid Winter Conditions, the Payoff was well worth the Effort. Cave Canyon, the Natural Bridge, the Overlook and Tower Arch were all Stunning as well as the Backcountry Scenery of the Swell itself, all further enhanced by the Treacherous but beautiful Wintery Frosting. . . This Adventure might be easier going in the opposite direction??? then, where I found the toughest climbing, would be upward climbing VS down climbing. Solid Route finding skills and a GPS are Indispensable! This portion of the Swell is riddled with Insurmountable obstacles making the risk of getting blocked or Trapped a Real Danger if you lose the mostly Unmarked Backcountry route! Especially around the Overlook Area. . . .
