Many people talk about Gasherbrum II being an easy 8000 meter peak but, isn't 100% true. The 6500m 'Banana Ridge' is the ridge you take up from the flat expanse of camp 1 to a narrow corridor at 21,500ft that holds camp 2. The ridge used to be only 40 degrees, but a couple of years ago the ridge collapsed and became much steeper and more exposed.
