Chiugiana sorge su una lieve altura lungo la provinciale che congiunge Corciano con la statale 75 bis del Trasimeno. Nei documenti antichi è chiamata “Villa in castro Glociane”. Alcuni ritengono che il nome derivi da Giano (Clusius Janus), altri l’hanno denominata “Chiugiana” in quanto luogo attraversato da una strada consolare per “il Chiugi”.
