François, from Valle d'Aosta, is a third-generation mountain guide, who inherited his devotion for this profession from his father and grandfather. His surname – as well as his mom’s family, ‘Maquignaz’, reflects and condenses over a hundred years of mountain history. François’s life choices could not have been different.
