Opis: This adventure was a fantastic start to the Colorado14er high peak climbing season Castle Peak & Conundrum Peak, late spring yielded great snow climbing conditions as well as comfortable weather! The approach was loaded with amazing vistas and awesome waterfalls! The snow on the upper route obscured the trail and lead me to find a, I'm guessing, 1/2 finished new route being put in by the national forest service, complete with bright orange bristled markers and forest service labeled stakes. It petered out and left me route finding in steep loose talus. No matter, I regained the ridge and rejoined the standard route for an epic day summiting both peaks. Then came the intimidating down climb between the two summits. WOW! Finally, the last two steep gully slopes yielded perfect glissading conditions and a speedy descent, the bike didn't hurt either. The campsites were so relaxing and convenient... This area is breathtaking!
