Nymans Gardens (NT), and the ruins of Slaugham
It is a walk full of small pleasures: a nature reserve and lake with Japanese flag down the stream below the gardens and park with its manor Nymans part in ruins; a cemetery in Slaugham with a yew tree 600 years old, about 10 meters in circumference; the ruins of Slaugham Manor; then a walk to the river Ouse - with the incongruous sight of a semicircular arch and columns in the middle of nowhere - and later through fields and woods to the ancient village of Balcombe fine.
