Opis: It’s all about the weather. However, it seems that predicting the weather in the Northwest is a futile job. The forecast called for 3 days of decent weather but reality was very different. Our first day in Washington we skied Mount Adams because it was forecasted to be better weather the next day and we wanted to save the best for Rainier. The top of Adams was a hurricane of sulfuric slush in absolute whiteout. Then we woke up the next day to unexpected rain. The forecast called for a brilliant morning with clouds moving in late afternoon. Nope. Most of our time headed up Glacier Basin trail was spent in a drizzle. Just as we topped Steamboat Prow things kinda cleared locally although a thick lenticular cloud rested on the top 3rd of Rainier. We double checked our weather and reports said clouds would be moving in later in the day. We just didn’t know what to trust our eyes or the faceless forecasters.
