The movie A WALK IN THE WOODS (2015) came out the year I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail and has inspired a ton of people all over the world to hike it since. Since most of us still need to #stayhome right now and a lot of people requested a review on this movie after I did WILD a couple weeks back, it seemed like now is as good a time as ever to watch it. I'm not here to make judgements about the filmmaking, Bill Bryson, Pres Redford or anyone else; I'm only comparing the trail and the backpacking experience to my own to offer a second, possibly more modern, perspective.
