Opis: My young friend, Zane, leads us on an adventure with Queen Snakes. Through his extensive study of this species occurring in a stream, just outside his door, he shows us how to identify queen snakes, how to distinguish a male from a female and how he recognizes certain individuals. He explains how they find and eat only freshly molted crayfish and how water quality is key to the presence of both species. He shows us how to compare 'tail' length in males and females beginning at the cloaca. Zane shows us features of the queen snake habitat and how to capture them for further study. At the end of the video Zane shows us good nature stewardship, as he releases a snake in the exact same location in was captured, after recording his data on the individual.
