Ragusa, inserita nel 2002 nella World Heritage List UNESCO, è una delle città d'arte più importanti d'Italia, grazie alle svariate ricchezze artistiche e archeologiche, eredità della sua storia plurimillenaria. Originariamente sorta su una ripida collina con profonde vallate su tre lati, a seguito dell’imponente terremoto del 1693, che segnò buona parte della Sicilia sud-orientale, venne quasi totalmente distrutta.
